Eruption and Interplanetary Evolution of a Stealthy Streamer-Blowout CME Observed by PSP at ∼0.5 AU

Streamer-blowout coronal mass ejections (SBO-CMEs) are the dominant CME population during solar minimum. Although they typically slow and lack clear low-coronal signatures, can cause geomagnetic storms. With aid of extrapolated fields remote observations off-limb low corona, we study initiation an SBO-CME preceded by consecutive eruptions consistent with a multi-stage sympathetic breakout scenario. From inner-heliospheric Parker Solar Probe (PSP) observations, it is evident that interacting heliospheric magnetic field plasma sheet structures draped about flux rope. We estimate 18 ± 11% CME’s azimuthal has been eroded through reconnection this erosion began after distance ∼0.35 AU from Sun was reached. This observational important implications for understanding SBO-CMEs their interaction surroundings.

We analyze a coronal mass ejection (CME) which resulted from an intense flare in active region AR486 on November 4, 2003. The CME propagation and speed are studied with interplanetary scintillation images, near-Earth space mission data, and Ulysses measurements.
